If you are interested in obtaining a puppy, please contact us at linda@sugarok.com. We keep a waiting list, and wait time varies but is usually several months. We will also be glad to give you information on other breeders' litters if we know about them. We do not ever plan to breed more than four litters per year, and have, so far, never bred more than three litters in a single year. All our breeding stock is cleared by OFA of hip dysplasia and examined annually for the presence of hereditary eye diseases. We are constantly on the lookout for other possible hereditary problems, and will continue to do all tests necessary or possible to exclude genetic defects.  This is a very healthy breed, and we want to keep it that way.  Our females (and usually our males) are not bred until they are two years old, or very close to it.  All purchasers are required to sign a contract agreeing not to breed their dog unless they conform to our breeding standards.

We will also want to know about you, the potential puppy owner, and your family.  Have you owned a dog before?  If so, what kind and what happened to it?  What has attracted you to the Finnish Lapphund?  Do you live in a home with a fenced yard?  If not, how do you plan to exercise your dog safely?  It is also important that we know what part of the country you live in.  We do not export dogs outside the US and Canada.  The breed population in the US is still too small to allow that.  Also, we do not ship puppies air cargo.  You are required to come here to pick your puppy up, so we can meet you.  If you need to fly in, we will help you arrange to carry your puppy back with you in the cabin of the plane.
